Reviving Self-Love in February: A Guide to Reconnecting with Yourself and Others
"L is for the way you look at me!"
I couldn't agree more with Nat King Cole's iconic lyrics from his song "L-O-V-E."
The way we perceive both others and ourselves is a fundamental aspect of our lives, one that we should treasure and nurture.
But let's face it, when life kicks into high gear and stress takes over, our vision can become clouded, and not in a good way.
I'm no exception to this. When stress creeps in, it's astonishing how unkindly we can start thinking about ourselves. And regrettably, that negativity can spill over into our interactions with others.
But here's the game-changer: when I find myself in that dark place, I know it's time for a refresh, a reset button on my perspective.
It's time to spread love, and spread it generously!
Imagine organizing a spa night with your gal pals, or maybe a fun evening of bowling with your sweetheart.
These activities are more than just a good time; they're an opportunity to reopen your eyes to the incredible people in your life and rekindle the love you have for them.
Now, let's talk about self-love, equally—if not more—important.
If you're caught in a cycle of self-criticism, it's time to reevaluate the way you see yourself.
Treat yourself to that book you've been dying to read or take yourself on a date to that cool new movie. Whatever it takes to reconnect with the person who truly matters—you.
Sometimes, we become so entangled in our roles—employee, co-worker, mom, volunteer—that we forget who we are at our core. It's crucial to see ourselves as ourselves, not just as the roles we play.
Being a life coach is amazing, but I cherish being "just Cindy" too. Amidst all the hats we wear, it's essential to carve out time for yourself.
Here's my challenge to you: with 16 days left in February, make it a point to do something for yourself on at least 7 of those days.
Trust me, you'll relish the experience of rediscovering and celebrating yourself for simply being you. It's time to cherish the way you look at yourself and the world around you! 💖
