What If Your 2026 Goal Isn’t to Fix Yourself: Two Things I Learned in 2025

At the end of each year, I love thinking about what I’ve learned and how it’ll apply to my life moving forward.

Here are the two lessons I learned from 2025 that I’m taking into 2026:

1 - My body is not my enemy

It can be hard not to fall into diet culture or to become hyper-fixated on a certain size. This type of goal culture often treats the body as something to control or overcome.

I’ve learned to reframe my body as an ally, a messenger, and a home. My body helps me to go on fun adventures. My body tells me when it needs extra care. My body is where I am, it is what allows me to laugh when spending time with family and friends.

If you’re struggling with your body feeling like the enemy, consider these two questions this year:

What does my body need to feel supported this year?

How can my goals care for my body instead of fighting it?

2 - This is the only life I’ve been given

Whether you’re a perfectionist or a people pleaser, it can be hard not to fall into the trap of, “I’ll be happy when…”

Last year I realized that I need to let go of “someday” thinking. That type of mindset doesn’t lead me to embracing the present moment and experiencing joy. Which is why in 2026, I am designing a life based on values, not urgency.

I am not rushing to my goals and to my successes, I am aligning myself with things that guide me to embrace spontaneity and build relationships.

I can’t wait to see what I will discover and learn in 2026, there are so many exciting adventures and momentous occasions ahead. I invite you to set goals for 2026 that feel life-giving, not punishing.
