Ask Yourself These Two Questions
Additionally, not giving yourself grace and mercy can have a harsh impact on your mindset. One of my favorite ways to assess whether I am being over-critical of myself is to ask myself two questions.
Would I let someone say that to me?
If my friend were in the same situation, would I say that unkind thing to them?
If the answer is “no” to either one of those questions, then you are being too hard on yourself and not practicing self-compassion. It’s important to ask yourself these questions often to get yourself in the right mindset for change.
